About Think Tank
Mission Statement:
Think Tank's mission is to provide young adults a place to engage in academics and endeavors that promote personal, social and intellectual growth. Think Tank offers concentrations of study from a passionate, patient and talented staff, sensitive to the values of diverse backgrounds and unique learning styles. Our center is a safe learning environment where mutual respect, inclusion and support for each others' learning processes are essential. Our goal is to encourage students to be life-long learners who carry their talents and inspiration into the wider world.
Guiding Principles:
- We provide an interactive, hands-on learning environment with small classroom sizes, where students don't just learn, they experience.
- Families are important to our learning community. We encourage parents and students to share their thoughts and ideas as our center evolves.
- Emotional and physical safety of the student is a priority.
- Our staff is selected carefully for their ability to communicate effectively, share enthusiasm and create a safe and supportive environment for students.
Main Classroom

Our Main Classroom is the location of most of our current classes. The beautiful sunlit room features a terrarium, home to several frogs, a mural painted by our very own Adam Zelny, as well as several microscopes, a digital projector, and much more!
Technology Lab

Think Tank Tech Lab(T3L) is an additional room just across the hall from our main area where technology-based classes are held. Equipped with 6 iMac computers, a digital projector and several panels to project upon, our lab is ready to be put to use in a variety of creative and academic ways!
Community Room

Our Community Room serves as a general lounge and meeting area for students, parents, and teachers. A refrigerator to store food and drink along with a microwave, toaster oven, electric kettle, and water cooler are all available for use. A small library of books for all ages and a handful of games lines one wall. Students often spend time in the Community Room for lunch, between classes, or while waiting to be picked up. It provides a great location for students and parents to socialize and become acquainted with new and friendly faces. During class time, parents may find the Community Room a perfect location to get some work done or to simply relax. Free wi-fi is available.
A Love For Teaching?
We are seeking teachers, interns, and volunteers available to teach individual daytime and/or after school courses, workshops, and tutoring sessions. Subject matter is mainly concentrated in the fields of STEM(science, technology, engineering, math) and the Creative and Literary Arts. Think Tank's educational model thrives on small class sizes and interdisciplinary, hands-on curricula.
Class and workshop formats at Think Tank are designed to be flexible with respect to the goals of the given curriculum. Classes often range from 12 to 15 weeks(full semester) and workshops, 4 to 10 weeks. All classes typically occur once per week.
If you are interested in becoming a part of our community of learners and educators please email Lauren Monroe and Adam Zelny with your resume and cover letter. Thanks!
